To hear some politicians talk, usually Republicans [Boehner in particular], you would think that both Medicare and Social Security are charities on a level with Medicaid.   Social Security, alone, has $2.5 Trillion in Treasury Bonds that will take care of all retirees, yes, including Boomers, through about 2040 without touching the principal.
The problem for the Government is paying back the money - and, blast them, they want to cheat the old folks out of their own money.
